Before school Activities

I think it is completely unfair that some students have to meet before school for activities--especially for those that aren't really optional like orchestra and band. How many students have before school activities? How can you get a ride? How does it impact the rest of your day?

Re: Before school Activities

i HATE extracurricular activities before school. i have to be at school at 7AM 2 times a week. ugh. it totally inpacts my day. by the end of the day i am litterally asleep in class (bad for grades). ask luckymarley13. she knows. well. i came to chorus before school as an option but i wish it was afterschool instead. its terrible. in band you have NO CHOICE (if you want a good grade) my band teacher makes you come at least once a week. if your in the jazz band you have to come 2 or 3 times (luckilly i'm not) i want to be in the jazz band but i'm not willing to sacrifice my whole day to come to school an hour early. what can i do?

UGGH I hate going to school early   I have to go in for festival, but once its done, my teacher wants us to come@7 am once a week. Ithink there should be more activity bus days after school for these things because after a rehearsal, ifeel dead and my grades reallycould suffer.

Re: Before school Activities

I actually refused to go in for those rehearsals--and my teacher had to stand by the fact that they were "optional." But normally that isn't how performing ensembles work, because students are too competitive to take chances like that. Do you think there should be a policy passed banning before school activities for which transportation is not provided?

Re: Before school Activities

Ya olive. is right. Our band director tells us we HAVE to go. But No one comes. But still it dosent seem fair to have to go.

Re: Before school Activities

At my school , CBMS, we go at 7am on a normal day. I also had a before school activity, BFS Bigger Stronger Faster, although it was optional it started at 6am. The trick is just to go to bed earlier on those days (or nights however you look at it...) It really helped me!

band before school

ah really befor school on monday is a real drag. especially because its a monday, and i do stuff after school to so when tuesday comes around im practically dead! i dont think ateacher can change a grade on something that some people may not be able to get to!

Morning Clubs

Well, I personally have M.E.S.A ( Mathamatics Engineering Science Achievement) on Mondays at 7:00 am. before school. I choose to be in this club and I go each week because I enjoy it. Not many students are in it, but those that are don't mind getting up the few minutes early .

In addition to that , Strings , Band and Percussion each meet respectively on either Tuesday,Wensday or Thursday. It is not required that you attend if you are in the class, but very benefical to attend. Though, if you want extra perks , such as going on our spring trip to Six Flags to perform and ride the rides, it is required that you attended 75% of the Morning Rehersals.

Out of 21 , that means each student has to attend 16 for the entire year. And if you attend your sectional ( just your instrument) that is counted at five towards your total.

Do any other schools have morning clubs ?

Getting up early

It is a good way to get ready for highschool. lol

Orchestra Mornings

I don't mind it too much in orchestra, and while we aren't "required" to go, if we don't we aren't allowed to perform in the concerts and we have to do an alternative assigment. Also, the teacher can hold your seat over your head, which makes sence, but that doesn't mean it is a favored method.
