Arundel changing to 50-minute lunches
Apparently starting this semester (2nd semester 2007-8), Arundel High School is starting 50-minute lunches (as opposed to 25). Just how they managed to get a different schedule than the other county high schools--or how they managed to eke out an additional 25 minutes of lunch without affecting other classes--isn't specified. However, the idea of this plan is to increase student achievement by allowing extra time for help and supervised studying, as well as extracurricular activities. Given our problems with after-school transportation (i.e., students without cars or on-call parents can't stay after for help, sports, or other extracurriculars), a 50-minute lunch has considerable promise, even though staff is a bit wary of students running around "unsupervised" for so long!

Arundel High School is a
Arundel High School is a public high school located in Gambrills in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
The school is part of the Anne Arundel County Public School system, and is the primary high school for Gambrills and portions of the Odenton and Crofton areas. Originally, the school was the Anne Arundel Academy, a prestigious one-room private school founded in 1855/1856 microsoft mcdba. That institution became Arundel High School in 1926. The current school building was built in 1949 and first occupied in 1950, with additions in 1966, 1985, and 2006. At the close of the 2008-2009 school year, 2,095 students were enrolled at Arundel High School.
Arundel High School gathers students from two middle schools in mid-western Anne Arundel County: Arundel Middle and Crofton Middle (partial) a+ certification. All students who live in the district for Arundel Middle go on to Arundel High. However, students who live in the district for Crofton Middle may or may not attend Arundel High, depending on their elementary school district. Students in the districts of Crofton Elementary School and Nantucket Elementary School attend Crofton Middle School and then Arundel High School, but students in the districts of Crofton Woods Elementary and Crofton Meadows Elementary attend Crofton Middle School and then South River High School mcsa training. This reassignment of Crofton Woods and Crofton Meadows from Arundel High to South River High - causing the middle school population to split after 8th grade - was approved by the AACPS Board of Education in March 18, 1998.
