Spelling Homework

My school (Central Middle) spelling program is not that diffucult and/or challenging. I feel as if my 5th grade spelling homework was harder. We had to write/draw stories, poems, diagrams, and pictures for four new words a week in addition to 20 word spelling homework. I feel we need more challenging words and make the homework harder. Rainbow writing and sentences are for 2nd graders and 3rd graders. With how easy this is there is no point in doing it.

This year I am going to give

This year I am going to give activities for the spelling homework. The students will chose four different activities to turn in on Friday. Below is my list juniper jncia. These ideas came from some of my web rings and some ideas are my own. Many thanks go out to my web ring friends who are so generous to share their ideas for the classroom. In the beginning of the school year, I will give the children a Spelling Choice Handbook ccsp certification. Hold onto this, as the kids will need to reference back to it every so often. Every month, I will give the kids a Spelling Calendar, with all of their new choices for spelling homework! They get to choose their own homework on Monday through Thursday, and be ready to turn everything in (together in a packet) on Friday before their test mcp questions.
