Every month at the Board of Ed Meetings the Board members honor an employee and educator of the month, do you think it would be ok to have a student of the month award on the 1st wednesday for a highschooler, the third wednesday the award would be open to a middle, elementary or highschool student. Of course the principle or teacher would have to nominate these students and then they applications would be reviewed. The award would recognize not only students with good academic standing but with honorable character, community and school involvement as well. Personally I like it when students are recognized for their hard work but when students are recognized at the board its for things like a special event or program they participated in or something really big that not all students may have access to.
